On The Move

Sailor is a waving, clapping, eating, crawling, laughing, singing machine! Sailor changes so much everyday, I think even she is amazed by her new skills. After cutting her first tooth about three weeks ago she took off on all fours and hasn't stopped moving since. She's crawling all over the place and loves exploring... under furniture mostly.

She's a Fish!

Of course the girl can swim, and with her daddy as her teacher she's on track to bring home the gold in 2028. Aside from looking too cute for words in her swimsuit, she took to the water like a natural. I know this is a moment Mike dreamt about as soon as we found out we were expecting, so to see it happen was just the happiest thing ever. My face still hurts from smiling.

Happy Half Birthday!

Last night we celebrated Sailor's 6 month birthday. Can someone please tell me where those 6 months went? Didn't we just bring our tiny 7 lb bundle home from the hospital? She has certainly become her own little person in this span of time. She has definite likes (her clothes, Hannah, sweet potatoes, bananas, anything soft or pretty, the list goes on and on) and she has her dislikes (getting bundled up in 10 layers, teething, staying up past her bedtime).

Last night we made reservations at one of our favorite spots and it began perfectly. She smiled, kicked and cooed as she sat proudly in her restaurant highchair. She was so irresistible she caught the attention of Mr. Philip Seymour Hoffman and his gaggle of kids. They all came over and gave lots of attention to the birthday girl. Sailor ate her dinner with joy and we ordered ours. Then it all went south. We ended up getting our food to go but with a sleeping baby, a cozy apartment and great takeout the evening ended up being perfectly perfect.

Thank you Sailor for the past 6 magical months. I can't wait to see who you become in the next 6. Love mommy.

Good Mommy... Bad Blogger

Wow, it's been a while! I don't even have a good excuse other than Miss Sailor continues to keep me on my toes. She has settled into a nice schedule, complete with three naps a day but I typically use that time to do the piles and piles of laundry a solid-food-eating-baby produces... we're talking PILES!

We're now at the official 6 month mark and I can't even wrap my head around that. I have a 6 month old! I also have news... a baby on the way! I am still in shock but very excited. I loved being pregnant and now that I know the joy that comes at the end of those 9 months I feel too blessed to articulate it. I love my babies (plural!? crazy!).

So here's where we are with Sailor's milestones...

* She's sitting up like a champ
* She's standing while holding onto something, with no other assistance
* She's crawling... backwards not forwards, we'll get there :)
* She's babbling and we swear she says "Apple Pie" and "PaPa"
* She's still a big giggler, mostly when we make funny noises
* She's eating solid foods and loving every bite. She looks like a little bird, mouth open wide
* She is sleeping well but not through the night yet
* She continues to steal our hearts everyday

Here are a few photos to bring you up to speed...

Happy 6 months sweetheart, we love you heaps and mounds. xoxoxo

Sleep Training

My heart is breaking. This is the hardest thing I've ever done. Hearing her cry while I sit outside the door counting down the minutes, I think I have cried as much as she has. I am trying the Ferber method which is a "cry it out" approach, in 5, 10 and 15 minute rotations. I have 5 minutes left before I can go in and sooth her, hoping that writing about it will make it go faster.

Sailor has become a full blown character. Her new favorite things... her jumpy, baby Einstein and Hannah. All three evoke huge smiles and the occasional giggle.

Oh my goodness, I think she's asleep! SUCCESS!!

Beaches, Bike Rides, Pumpkins and Tons of Giggles

The fact that it has almost been a month since I last posted is proof that new moms have no time! When Sailor was measured in weeks it was easier to grab a second to sit down and ponder motherhood, but now that she's a little character she wants to learn and see, and do! We've been trying hard to keep her entertained with lots of new activities, here are just a few from the last month...

3 1/2 months old!

My mommy has no time to blog because she spends her days dressing me in silly outfits and taking pictures.

We went to a pumpkin patch about an hour outside the city. After the corn maze and the hayride we picked out a few pumpkins and had a blast staging Sailor on some bales of hay. We were SUCH the new parents and loving every minute of it.

This one cracks me up!

Mike was excited for us to come to meet his coworkers so we headed uptown and made the rounds on the trading floor. Sailor passed out hard, I don't think trading will be her path... but she was eyeing the Vogue building across the street.

We headed down to Kiawah, South Carolina for a wedding and what a perfect trip it turned out to be. Sailor was a champ on the plane and such a trooper the entire weekend. She had a couple of major firsts while there, her first bike ride and her first toe-dip in the ocean. We think her name is fitting, she seemed to love the ocean.

Time And Baby Flies

It has been weeks since I last posted... Sailor has kept me so busy! This little girl simply can't get enough of the world. She wants to go and do, and see everything she can. It feels like someone flipped a switch and now she's such a little person. Long gone is my infant that would sleep away the day.

In the last few weeks we've flown (just mommy and baby) to Michigan, Kentucky and home again. We've met every family member, been the guest of honor at two showers, and discovered a hundred new things to giggle at.

A quick snapshot of our adventures...
